“A cozy and calm space to unwind” is the thought that crossed my mind when I began decorating my master bedroom.
I knew I wanted fluffy white bedding (what was I thinking with a dog?!) and softer colors. My home is full of bright colors and loud patterns but I wanted my bedroom to be a break from all of that and truly be a place that calms me. After trial and error it has become just that kind of space.
The first thing I checked off my list were my custom curtain panels. I’d been eyeing this fawn print by Vern Yip and decided this was the perfect place to use it in my home. Originally I had a solid sand colored headboard out of a woven textured fabric and a furry lumbar pillow. It was too neutral for me though and after a while I was craving color! I added the blush linen pillows and the sea-foam green patterned lumbar but it was still missing something. Then I found the PERFECT pattern from Laura Park Designs to use on my headboard! I almost cried when I hung it because it was just the missing piece!
I did the unusual in this room with the decor by mixing bright pinks and royal blues with a deep green velvet and a mustard gold pom-pom. The artwork all contains shades of green and blue with hints on pinks and orange in a few prints. I found that mixing all these shades gave me a colorful look in a toned down way.
I used gold frames on the wall to blend in with my gold nightstand, a white dresser against my white walls to keep the focus on the decor, and added tall wicker baskets to add texture against the wall with my dresser. Mix all that together and I created just the room I’d envisioned!
I’ve enjoyed sharing my bedroom with you! Everyone deserves a cozy room to resort to at the end of the day! If you’re ready for a refresh to make yours cozier let me help!
